My Fantasy Place

I always dreamed of going to a desert. Every time I see pictures of a desert, I would think that the place was so peaceful and calm. I would like to ride a camel and eat different kind of cactus. At night, I would sleep in a without a tent and cover myself with a blanket. I would count the stars in the sky until I fall asleep.

Nobody would know me and I would do anything I want to do. I like stargazing at night but I don’t have a good view in our place because of the trees. In the desert, I can do stargazing every night and I will surely have a good view of the sky.

Of course it is just my fantasy because in reality, living in desert is quite difficult. I may never survive the heat of the sun and the lack of water and other necessities. But I still want to go there and experience the desert life .

Your fantasy could be a reality if you are in the deserts of California, Nevada, etc. Do you know that during the cooler months, people take to the desert to go camping? They usually take their off-road vehicles, ATV’s or dirt bikes, tents or trailers for a weekend of fun.

Out there in the desert, you can see the clear night sky dusted with myriads of stars. As you mentioned, you can spread a blanket in the sand and gaze upwards into the heavens until you wake up the next morning to the creeping warmth of the rising sun. Temperatures in the fall and winter are nice and cool during the day, cold and freezing at night which make the presence of camp fires a welcome necessity.

The views of rock formations, sand dunes and the distant mountains are magnificent. Pictures taken by camera turn out to be rich and crisp in color owing to the low humidity of the desert air.

In the summer when the increased incidence of blinding and blowing sand is no longer conducive to desert camping and daytime temperatures are more suited to baking, people flee the desert to seek refuge in the air-conditioned confines of the hotel-casinos such those in Las Vegas.
